SHINee's Taemin is making a triumphant return after a hiatus of two years and five months, bringing forth his captivating new mini-album, "Guilty." In a recent press conference held on the 30th, Taemin offered insights into the concept of the album and his artistic evolution.
"Throughout the preparation of this album, I found myself delving deep into my past, reflecting on my life's journey," Taemin shared. "I embarked on a profound self-discovery journey to present a more mature and refined version of myself. I believe this album encapsulates both the familiar aspects of my identity and introduces new elements."
Taemin's talents extend beyond his vocal prowess. The music video for "Guilty" showcases mesmerizing choreography, with Taemin's daring moves, including placing his hands inside his clothes to grasp his chin. He's shedding his boyish charm for a bolder, sexier persona. Taemin explained, "Revealing one's skin can be embarrassing, but it piques people's curiosity. I aimed to balance charm and intrigue without making it awkward, and this daring move was choreographed by Casper."
The choreography of the album also features the creative touch of Bada from Mnet's "Street Woman Fighter 2." Taemin revealed, "Bada's choreography is a valuable addition to this song. She has a knack for making performances appealing to the public. I initially entrusted her with the choreography based on my agency's recommendation, and I ended up relying on her extensively."
Interestingly, the journey to create this new song spanned two years and five months. Taemin initially proposed the song to his SHINee group members before their "Don't Call Me" promotions, but they suggested it suited him better as a solo artist. "This song has a profound story, and I felt it was something I had to do on my own," he explained.
When asked about an artist he'd like to take on a dance challenge with, Taemin mentioned Hoshi from SEVENTEEN. "Hoshi is an extraordinary dancer, and he's a big fan of mine," Taemin chuckled. "We've already filmed a challenge together, and we've discussed the possibility of collaborating on an album or a song. He's an amazing performer, and I have my eye on him." He added with a light-hearted tone, "I'd also love to witness more male artists with abs taking on the challenge."
