The highly anticipated return of the K-drama, Squid Game Season 2, is on the way, and it's set to be an exciting journey. Following the resounding success of its debut season on Netflix, fans have been eagerly awaiting the sequel. Spoilers Alert: This article may contain Squid Game Season 2 spoilers!

In an exclusive interview with What's on Netflix, the lead actor of Squid Game, Lee Jung Jae, revealed some intriguing details. He said that the filming process for Squid Game Season 2 is expected to last approximately 10 months, similar to the time frame for Season 1. However, due to the heightened complexity of the second season, there's a possibility that production may stretch a bit longer.

If we count 10 months of filming starting in the summer of 2023, production could well extend into the spring of 2024. Consequently, a first-half release for Season 2 in 2024 is appearing increasingly unlikely. But don't lose hope just yet; this could mean that Squid Game Season 2 might become the spectacular Christmas gift we've all been yearning for. Despite the extended wait, the news of the show's return and the commencement of filming is undeniably thrilling for fans worldwide.

The plot of Squid Game Season 2 will continue the gripping narrative from where the first season left off. We'll be reacquainted with Detective Hwang Joon Ho, who, in the climax of Season 1, discovers the shocking identity of the game's enigmatic Frontman – his long-lost brother, In Ho. In Ho's actions lead to a dramatic cliffhanger, leaving fans pondering Joon Ho's fate and the potential repercussions in the upcoming games. Could Joon Ho have survived the fall?

Meanwhile, another game survivor, Gi-Hon, is determined to unveil the sinister organization orchestrating these deadly competitions. The recruiter's attempts to enlist new candidates confirm that he's under constant surveillance. Gi-Hon, driven by vengeance and with newfound resources, plans to infiltrate the heart of the games and dismantle the organization responsible.

The core theme of Squid Game Season 2 revolves around the pursuit of revenge, as divulged by the show's lead actor, Lee Jung-jae. Lee will join forces with Lee Byung-hun, who portrayed Hwang In-ho, The Front Man. Their partnership holds the key to discovering the identity of the VIPs and those pulling the strings behind the games. Unmasking the culprits might pave the way for the end of these chilling competitions.

Lee Jung Jae shared, "As we all saw at the end of season 1, the main plot of season 2 will be revenge, and the key figure who controlled the workings of the games in season 1 was Lee Byung Hun Sunbae, so it seems that the two of us will be the central figures of this next story.”

According to Screenrant, we may also witness a range of shocking children's games from around the world in Squid Game Season 2, possibly set in the home countries of the VIPs.

It's worth noting that Season 2 may go global, introducing contestants from different nationalities and taking Gi-hun's quest for retribution beyond the borders of Korea.

We will let you know all the updates on the South Korean drama as soon as we get anything new on the K-drama. Stay tuned to Devdiscourse!
