Netflix's Castlevania: Nocturne has officially been greenlit for a second season, bringing joy to both new and loyal fans. Just over a week after the release of Season 1 on September 28, the creators, Clive Bradley and Kevin Kolde, expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming response and support.
“Thanks to all of the ‘Castlevania’ fans old and new for the amazing response and support!” said series creator and co-showrunner Clive Bradley and co-showrunner Kevin Kolde. “We are excited to be able to bring you more ‘Castlevania: Nocturne’ and the next chapter in the rise of Richter Belmont.”
Castlevania: Nocturne is a dark and thrilling animated series on Netflix based on Konami's beloved "Castlevania" video game series. Season 2 picks up the narrative 300 years after the original show, building anticipation among enthusiasts.
Season 1 transported viewers to the chaos of the 1792 French Revolution, where Richter Belmont, his adopted sister Maria Renard, and the dhampir Alucard fought against supernatural adversaries and the sinister vampire Erzsabet. The season wrapped up with a thrilling cliffhanger, hinting at Alucard's return and Maria's mother's unsettling transformation into a vampire. These events promise to open new and enthralling chapters within the captivating Castlevania universe.
However in Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2, there are some issues to consider. In the Symphony of Night video game, there we saw a romantic subplot involving Maria and Alucard. This romance has faced criticism due to the significant age gap between the characters, making it potentially problematic. In Castlevania: Nocturne, the characters' ages are explicitly stated, raising concerns about how this relationship will be portrayed in Season 2.
It's important to acknowledge that portrayals of age-gap relationships have come under scrutiny in the media due to concerns about the ethics and appropriateness of such relationships. Season 2 of Castlevania: Nocturne, with its established character ages, may need to address this issue carefully to avoid backlash.
On a more positive note, the first season of "Nocturne" made a significant impact, quickly ranking in the Top 10 English TV shows within the first five days of its release and achieving Top 10 status in 40 countries. The voice cast, which includes Edward Bluemel, Thuso Mbedu, Pixie Davies, Sharon D. Clarke, and many others, contributed to the show's success.
For Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar will continue to serve as executive producers, and directors Sam Deats and Adam Deats will return to ensure the visual continuity of the show. Project 51 Productions and Powerhouse Animation will continue to produce the Netflix series.
We will keep you updated as soon as we get anything new on the anime series.
