The mid-season finale of Season 7 brought us a significant turning point as the Fraser family finally returned to their homeland of Scotland after more than a decade in the American Colonies. This poignant reunion with their kin and country serves as a fitting pause in the series. The first half of Season 7 delved deep into the early years of the American Revolution, following Jamie's conscription into the Continental Army in New York. It portrayed his harrowing experience of being wounded in the first Battle of Saratoga and the near-fatal confrontation with his son, William Ransom, a Redcoat, in the second battle.

Fortunately, Jamie's path takes a different turn as he is entrusted with the solemn duty of transporting the body of his second cousin, Loyalist Brigadier General Simon Fraser, back to Scotland for burial. This journey takes the family far from the frontlines of the revolution.

In the 20th century, Brianna and Roger return to the past to seek treatment for their daughter's heart murmur, only to be entangled in a perilous situation when a new acquaintance, Rob Cameron, kidnaps their son Jemmy in search of lost Spanish gold from the Colonial era. The season concludes with the couple fearing that Rob has taken Jemmy through the mystical stones.

What Books Will Outlander Season 7 Cover?

Executive producer Maril Davis previously confirmed that Season 7 would adapt content from Books 6, 7, and 8, spread across its 16 episodes. The first four episodes of Season 7 wrapped up the events of "A Breath of Snow and Ashes," which had carried over from the shortened Season 6 due to the pandemic. With that storyline now complete, the rest of Season 7 will focus on completing "An Echo in the Bone" (Book 7) and beginning "Written in My Own Heart's Blood" (Book 8). Moreover, the forthcoming eighth and final season of "Outlander" will delve into the ninth book in Gabaldon's series, titled "Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone."

The fate of the beloved opening credits and theme song, "The Skye Boat Song," performed by Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor, remains uncertain following O'Connor's passing. Fans eagerly await news on whether her rendition will continue to accompany Season 7, Part 2.

Outlander Season 7 Cast

Steven Cree, as Ian Murray, Young Ian's father and Jamie's brother-in-law, adds to the excitement.

In a surprising twist, Kristin Atherton takes on the role of Jenny Murray, Jamie's sister and Young Ian's mother. Jenny was previously portrayed by Laura Donnelly.
