Almost a decade after bidding farewell to Walter White's story through his demise, Bryan Cranston has unexpectedly reprised his iconic role on several occasions. From his appearance in El Camino: A Breaking Bad Story, which provided closure to Jesse's narrative, to his presence on Better Call Saul, and even a lively PopCorners Super Bowl advertisement, Cranston has managed to satisfy the cravings of ardent Breaking Bad enthusiasts. Nevertheless, these visitations haven't marked a permanent return for Cranston. Yet, he doesn't entirely dismiss the idea either.

Reflecting on his final days on the Breaking Bad set, Cranston shared his admiration for creator Vince Gilligan in a recent interview with Awards Radar. While he initially believed that he would never step back into the shoes of Walter White and that world again, his multiple reprisals of the role have led him to reconsider a more sustained comeback. Cranston acknowledged that he wouldn't readily dismiss the possibility of a return.

He explained, "I'll just leave it at nothing's on the horizon and I know that Vince would not want to do something where — he doesn't need a paycheck and neither do I — and so let's honor that. But IF there was something that he woke up from a dream, and went, 'Oh my god,' and he pitched me on it, and I too had the 'OH MY GOD' reaction then I'd look at it."

While Cranston is open to the idea of revisiting Walter White in a more extensive capacity, he sets a high bar for his potential return. He doesn't rule out the possibility but asserts in the interview that these groundbreaking concepts are rare in the industry, implying that Breaking Bad aficionados shouldn't hold their breaths.

Cranston's enthusiasm for embodying Walter White once more is evident, as seen in his return for Better Call Saul. In a candid conversation with Variety, Cranston recalled his experience, emphasizing that slipping back into the roles felt as if he and Aaron Paul had never left them. "There were two scenes that we shot," Cranston recounted. "The first one was in the RV with [Odenkirk], so we had to research the 'Breaking Bad' episode that that would have taken place in and what were the circumstances leading up to that. But as far as the characters? Once Aaron and I put on those clothes, we looked at each other and smiled, and we went, 'We're back.'"

Furthermore, Cranston's joy was palpable during the filming of the Breaking Bad PopCorners commercial. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he described the lighthearted production as a refreshing departure from the intensely serious tone of the original show. Cranston shared, "We had three days of just smiling and laughing and just enjoying each other's company and putting on these costumes that meant so much to us," highlighting the reunion's jovial nature between himself, Paul, and Gilligan.

Unlike some actors who might shy away from revisiting their iconic characters, Cranston's love for Walter White is evident. Even if these returns are brief and for fun, he appreciates how "Breaking Bad" has defined his career, proudly stating in his Variety interview, "My eventual line in the obituary — 'best known for Breaking Bad' — I'm proud of that."

The legacy of Breaking Bad, a crime drama television series created by Vince Gilligan for AMC, remains strong. Set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the series follows Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a high school chemistry teacher grappling with terminal lung cancer. To secure his family's financial future, he turns to producing and distributing methamphetamine with the help of former student Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), all while navigating the perilous criminal underworld. Originally premiering on AMC on January 20, 2008, the series concluded on September 29, 2013, after an impactful five-season run comprising 62 episodes.
