Crunchyroll, a popular platform for streaming anime, has some exciting news to share. They're going to add the very first My Hero Academia anime movie, titled "My Hero Academia: Two Heroes," to their lineup. This movie will be available for streaming starting Thursday at 8:00 PM (Eastern Daylight Time) in various countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Nordic countries, and the Caribbean. What's great is that viewers have two options: they can watch it in Japanese with English subtitles for an authentic experience, or they can watch it dubbed in English.
This particular movie originally premiered in Japan back in August 2018, and it made quite a splash in just its first few days. The story revolves around a group of young students who are training to become superheroes. They embark on a trip to an incredibly advanced and exciting island known as I-Island. This island is like a hub of scientific innovation, kind of like a "science Hollywood," where brilliant minds from all over the world gather to showcase their discoveries related to superpowers (called Quirks) and hero equipment.
However, the fun takes a serious turn when a group of villains takes control of the island's security system and holds everyone on the island hostage. This unexpected situation forces our young heroes, including the main character Deku and his mentor All Might, to put their training to the test and work together to save the day. The fate of hero society itself is at stake.
The creator of the original My Hero Academia manga, Kōhei Horikoshi, played a big role in making this movie happen. He was involved in designing the characters and overseeing the whole project. The movie was created by a talented team that included director Kenji Nagasaki, scriptwriter Yousuke Kuroda, character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi, and composer Yuki Hayashi. The film was distributed in Japan by TOHO, a major Japanese film company.
It's worth noting that the movie's theme song, titled "Long Hope Philia," was performed by Masaki Suda, and the lyrics and composition were done by Hiromu Akita from the band Amazarashi.
In addition to the movie itself, there was a special one-shot manga created by Horikoshi called "All Might Rising." This manga was given out to the first million people who watched the movie in theaters in Japan. Viz Media, a well-known manga publisher, released an English version of this manga for free on their website.
Since this movie's release, the My Hero Academia franchise has continued to grow. The second movie, "My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising," premiered in Japan in December 2019. Another movie, "My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Heroes' Mission," came out in Japan in August 2021 and later in the United States in October 2021. And, excitingly, a fourth film is also in development.
So, if you're a fan of My Hero Academia, superheroes, and thrilling adventures, be sure to catch this captivating movie on Crunchyroll for an action-packed and entertaining experience! My Hero Academia: Two Heroes will stream on Crunchyroll tomorrow on Thursday, August 17 at 5:00 p.m. PT/8:00 p.m. ET.
