If you're a Bridgerton fan eagerly awaiting its third season, here's the scoop! Season 3 might be missing one of its cherished characters. As per the Julia Quinn novels that the hit Netflix series is based on, the storyline revolves around the slow-burning romance between Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (played Nicola Coughlan). This romance tale spans a decade, hinting that Bridgerton Season 3 may leap to 1824.
But here's the twist! The real-life character, Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), left the world in 1818. If the show remains historically accurate, she might not make an appearance this season. Initial snapshots from the upcoming season don't spill the beans about her fate either.
Shonda Rhimes, the mastermind behind the series, commented about how they've approached historical details. Speaking with Express.co.uk, she clarified, "Although Queen Charlotte is a real historical figure, this is not a history lesson," she explained. "It is very important that people understand that, because I’m telling the story of Queen Charlotte of Bridgerton, not of Queen Charlotte of England," she says.
Historically speaking, the real Queen Charlotte hailed from Germany and was betrothed to a powerful English king after a thorough search for a Protestant bride. Their real-life love story mirrors the show, where they wed shortly after their first meeting.
With Bridgerton Season 3 on the horizon, fans are abuzz with theories about what's in store, from an unpredictable plotline to a speculated release date and a significant twist around Lady Whistledown. Only time will tell!
