The Karate Kid spin-off gained immense popularity, especially during the pandemic, attracting a massive audience. The show garnered significant viewership on both YouTube and Netflix and received predominantly positive reviews from critics.
To commemorate the beginning of the end for Cobra Kai, Netflix treated fans to a special video at Tudum: A Global Fan Event held in Brazil, featuring the cast reuniting. Additionally, Zabka seizes the opportunity to deliver some inspiring words.
Cobra Kai Season 6 Production updates
We're not sure if Cobra Kai Season 6 will start production yet. Ralph Macchio, who played Daniel LaRusso in three Karate Kid films and the series, recently told Deadline that they haven't started filming and he hasn't seen the script for the new season. However, he knows the general story for Season 6, which will be the last.
He also talked about a new Karate Kid movie coming in 2024, which will continue the story from the original movies. Macchio joked that he hasn't received a call from the movie studio yet, so we don't know the cast for the movie.
What to expect from Cobra Kai Season 6
Cobra Kai Season 6 is the final chapter of the series, and it promises to be an epic conclusion. In this season, the battle between Cobra Kai, Eagle Fang, and Miyagi-Do reaches its climax.
Cobra Kai follows Johnny Lawrence as he tries to turn his life around by reopening Cobra Kai and training a new generation, starting with Miguel Diaz. This sparks a fire in Daniel, who starts his dojo to confront his high school bully and face his own trauma. Cobra Kai Season 6 will bring an end to the Miyagiverse grandly and excitingly.
In the previous seasons, Daniel and Johnny put aside their differences to take down the revived Cobra Kai led by Terry Silver. With Silver defeated, their dojos now compete in the Sekai Taikai, the most important karate tournament in the world. However, there are new tensions as Kreese, the original Cobra Kai sensei, is out of prison, Mike Barnes is involved, and Cobra Kai is now led by sensei Kim.
Actor Dallas Dupree Young, who plays Kenny, expressed his character's heartbreak over being betrayed by Silver. Kenny is in a rough place and unsure of his next steps, but he's eager to see what unfolds.
Dallas Dupree Young told Digital Spy: "Kenny's heartbroken. I mean, it was a gut-wrenching moment honestly, because his father figure [Silver] is his leader, the guy that he looked up to, his mentor, kind of betrayed him in a sense.
"And for Kenny to watch that video and see the evidence, it was just very disheartening. So I think Kenny is in a rough headspace. He doesn't really know where he wants to go at this point. But I can't wait to see what happens with him."
In Cobra Kai Season 6, multiple storylines need resolution. Johnny and Carmen are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their baby, Robby remains committed to assisting Kenny, and the dojos of Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang are gearing up for the grandest karate tournament worldwide. While it may seem like a lot to handle, the series has successfully managed multiple plotlines in the past.
Cobra Kai Season 6 presents two significant unresolved storylines. Firstly, Kreese is on a mission of revenge after breaking out of prison. He holds a grudge against Johnny and Daniel for deceiving him while he was incarcerated. Additionally, Kreese carries a sense of guilt for involving Tory in his schemes. Secondly, the Sekai Taikai international championships take center stage. This tournament provides a crucial opportunity for the group to showcase their teachings and pay homage to the legacy of Mr. Miyagi on a global platform.
According to Gianni Decenzo, who portrays Demetri, the creators of Cobra Kai are committed to delivering a satisfying resolution to the story. They aim to tie up loose ends and ensure that fans are not left hanging. Gianni Decenzo told Digital Spy, "I know that the creators want a great resolution like any good story. They don't want to leave the fans hanging.
"There's a lot still to solve – you've got Miyagi-Do, Eagle Fang... They're kind of working together but there's still two separate groups and then of course, prison seems to not be adequate enough to keep Kreese away!"
