One Punch Man fans were eagerly expecting the release of Chapter 188, following the exciting actions of the previous chapter that left them yearning for more information about the illicit activities of the Hero Association. While manga creator Yusuke Murata has not provided an update on the upcoming chapter, it is known that he publishes chapters on a biweekly basis, suggesting a similar release schedule for Chapter 188. Although an official release date has yet to be confirmed, fans have come to expect Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 12 am JST as a likely release time.
One Punch Man Chapter 187 delved into the mechanics of Hero Gambling within the Hero Association. The organization would coerce their heroes into participating in rigged fights, where lower-ranking heroes would face off against disguised low-ranking monsters. By manipulating the outcomes, the Hero Association could contact their sponsors and ensure victory in these predetermined battles.
However, when one of these fights deviated from the plan, Saitama intervened and foiled the scheme. Child Emperor then revealed to Saitama and Genos the workings of Hero Gambling. Although Saitama considered using the system to earn money, he ultimately chose to prioritize helping people over personal gain.
In One Punchman Chapter 188, it is expected that Genos, an S-class hero, will seek to live closer to Saitama's apartment. Despite his elite status, Genos opts to reside with Saitama but desires a separate living space due to the apartment's small size. Consequently, he may explore alternative methods of remaining close to his master.
One Punchman 188 might also bring the spotlight back to King, who has been absent from the manga for some time. In his last appearance during the Psycho Sisters arc, King attempted to meet Saitama but was unable to do so as the latter was engaged in battle with Tatsumaki.
One Punchman 188 will likely continue the storyline involving the Hero Association's involvement in setting up bets and wagering on heroes. As seen in the latest chapter, this scheme proved disastrous for the Mugen hero, who pretended to be weak but was ultimately defeated by a monster. If there are traitors within the gambling associations providing false information to secure financial gains, the lives of heroes will be endangered. In response, Saitama and Genos, as the duo protagonists, will embark on an investigation into this corruption, potentially uncovering leads along the way.
Additionally, Child Emperor's involvement in the case suggests that he may play a significant role in the new chapter, and the return of the Mugen hero is expected to aid in putting an end to the gambling activities in the forthcoming chapters.
