Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, a beloved anime series from the late 2020s, has captivated audiences with its gripping story and compelling characters. The show, consisting of two successful seasons, has garnered numerous accolades and sold over a million DVD and Blu-ray Discs. Fans have been eagerly anticipating a third season since the conclusion of Season 2 in September 2008. However, there have been no updates on the production of Season 3, leaving fans disheartened.

Nearly three years ago, an announcement was made regarding a potential new installment called Code Geass: Z of the Recapture. Unfortunately, there has been little information available about this supposed anime series, leading to doubts among fans about its existence. Speculation and theories have emerged, suggesting that the story may take place after the events of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection, with characters like Lelouch and C.C. embarking on a journey to confront evil Geass users. Another possibility is that the series might deviate from the previous seasons and focus on a new protagonist.

The announcement for Code Geass: Z of the Recapture was made on December 5, 2020, coinciding with the fictional birthday of the series' protagonist, Lelouch. This announcement was part of a ten-year plan for the franchise, showcasing the long-term vision for its future. Yoshimitsu Ohashi was set to direct the series, while the renowned studio Sunrise was entrusted with its production. Although a 2021 release date was initially anticipated, it failed to materialize.

After years without any significant updates or the release of Code Geass: Z of the Recapture, some fans have expressed skepticism about the project's authenticity. It is plausible that the unforeseen impact of COVID-19 on the anime industry could have caused significant delays. However, given the extended period of silence, other factors might be at play. The pandemic did affect the production of various anime shows, causing delays, but it's challenging to ascertain the current status of Code Geass: Z of the Recapture.

The announcement of Code Geass: Z of the Recapture came from the reputable source Crunchyroll, a streaming service that also hosts the franchise. This lends credibility to the possibility of a new series. Nevertheless, it seems improbable that a release date will be announced in the future, if at all. Since the release of the 4D version of Lelouch of the Re;surrection, there has been minimal activity surrounding the franchise as a whole. This suggests that the latest movie might have marked the conclusion of the series. Regrettably, it appears that the once-thriving Code Geass franchise is currently stagnant and unlikely to see any significant developments in the predictable future.
