The popular Netflix fantasy series, Shadow and Bone, has finally returned with its much-awaited Season 2 after a two-year hiatus. Based on the Grishaverse books by Leigh Bardugo, the series boasts a talented cast, including Ben Barnes, Jessie Mei Li, Freddy Carter, and Archie Renaux. Created by Eric Heisserer, the second season has covered most of the events from the books Siege and Storm and Ruin and Rising, with the season finale ending with the Darkling's death. However, fans are now curious whether the show will get Shadow and Bone Season 3.

The end of Shadow and Bone Season 2 has left viewers with several unanswered questions, like whether Alina is a Shadow summoner now and what happened to Nikolai at the end of the season. Bardugo hinted that the new season could consist of storylines from multiple books, indicating that Season 3 might be a spin-off. Eric Heisserer, the show's creator, confirmed in an interview that if the second season performs well, Six of Crows would get a dedicated season.

Heisserer told to EW: "A good chunk of what you see in the Crow's side story" would be happening simultaneously with the events of Nikolai's coronation, Heisserer confirms. He also clarifies that Suman's Inej would return for the spin-off. "Obviously, we're not gonna keep Inej out of that," he says. "We're gonna bring her back. So you understand then how many weeks it has been since she's been on the high seas and then returning to Ketterdam."

Although Netflix has not announced anything officially, fans are hopeful as the second season's open ending leaves plenty of room for further storylines. The first two seasons cover events from the three Shadow & Bone books, and the Grishaverse has other books that could be adapted for the show, such as the Six of Crow books, King of Scars, and Rule of Wolves.

As of now, Netflix has not renewed the series for a third season, but with the promise of a Six of Crow spinoff, there is plenty for fans to look forward to in the Grishaverse. However, the gap between Season 1 and Season 2 was more than two years, which could be due to pandemic-related production delays. It remains to be seen how soon Season 3 will air, but it could potentially be during the holiday period of 2024.
