Beef, the American dark comedy-drama miniseries created by Korean director Lee Sung Jin for Netflix, has become a huge hit among fans. With its success, the question on everyone's minds is whether or not the show will be renewed for a second season. Here's what we know so far on Beef Season 2!

Renewals of successful titles have become the de facto norm in the industry, especially when a show becomes a massive hit. And with multiple days on the Netflix Top 10 and some serious Emmy buzz already starting up for its two leads, it's no surprise that fans are eagerly awaiting news for Beef Season 2.

While creator Lee Sung Jin has suggested that a second season could be in the cards, he has also made it clear that the first series of Beef was always intended as a complete story. According to him, Beef Season 2 would feature new characters and "other beefs".

“Cards on the table, we did pitch this show as a limited anthology, so there is sort of a close-ended-ness to the story [of Danny and Amy],” Lee told ELLE. “But, if given the opportunity, of course, I'd love to explore them further, because Danny and Amy, I love those characters. But yeah, by design, though, this a close-ended narrative. I think in my 45-minute PowerPoint there was multiple other beefs and other character types to explore. We’ll see.”

Lee Sung Jin revealed to Rolling Stone that he wanted the first season to have a conclusive feel just in case. However, he also shared that there are a lot of ideas on his end to keep the story going, with three seasons already mapped out in his head. He also hinted at one big general idea for a potential second season.

“I wanted it to have a conclusive feel just in case,” he told Rolling Stone, “but there are a lot of ideas on my end to keep this story going. I think should we be blessed with a Season Two, there’s a lot of ways for Danny and Amy to continue. I have one really big general idea that I can’t really say yet, but I have three seasons mapped out in my head currently.”

Although the show's creator is excited about the prospect of a second season, he has also mentioned that the show can continue without Steven Yeun and Ali Wong. The show was initially pitched as a limited anthology, which means that the story of Danny and Amy has a close-mindedness to it. However, if given the opportunity, Lee Sung Jin would love to explore the characters further.

In the first season, Danny Cho and Amy become enemies after a small traffic incident in a parking lot. The tit-for-tat relationship that develops between them leads to escalating acts of revenge as they learn more about each other's identities and families. Season 1 ends with them attacking each other on the cliffs, but they eventually rely on each other when they become stranded and injured.

So, while it's anyone's guess what the second season will be about, fans can look forward to the potential exploration of new characters and "other beefs". Regardless, the first season of Beef was a thrilling ride that left audiences wanting more.
