Han So Hee's first movie, Heavy Snow, will finally be released after four years of completion. The film has been chosen to be part of the Korean Competition section at the Jeonju International Film Festival.
The LGBTQ movie Heavy Snow is a touching tale about two teenage girls who become close friends and fall in love as they face the difficulties of growing up. The girls go on a journey from Gangneung to Seoul and share various emotions and experiences, which strengthen their unbreakable bond. Even though they are apart and have limited time together, their affection for each other remains strong.
According to Director Yoon Su Ik, he wrote the screenplay for Heavy Snow while living in Yangyang, Gangwon-do. He revealed that he got the idea while surfing alone on the snow-covered winter beach.
“I lived in Yangyang, Gangwon-do to pen the script,” and added, “I got the inspiration for Heavy Snow while surfing alone in the heavy snow on a winter beach.” He continued, “The film’s background is the rough landscapes of the sea and mountains with heavy snow, and a romance involving the two female characters unfolds within this dreamy and unique atmosphere,” said Yoon Su Ik.
Heavy Snow marks Han So Hee's screen debut, which she filmed during her second year as a rookie actress. Four years later, the film is finally set to be released to audiences. In addition to this movie, Han So Hee has worked on many other interesting shows since taking on lead roles in 2020, including "Nevertheless" with Song Kang, "Soundtrack" with Park Hyung-sik, and "My Name" with Park Hee-seon and Ahn Bo-hyun.
Yoon Su Ik shared that he chose Han So Hee for the role of Seol in Heavy Snow because he believed she could effectively convey the character's pain and beauty. He described her as a delicate, serious, and brave actress who left a strong impression on him.
Yoon Su Ik also expressed his appreciation for Han So Hee's willingness to take on the challenge of this project, which gave him great courage.
Yoon Su Ik said, “I thought she could express the pain and the beauty that the character Seol possesses. She left an impression as a delicate, serious, and courageous actress.” He added, “I wanted to take on this challenge together. I gained great courage from her joining the project.”
Yoon Su Ik emphasized the visual beauty of "Heavy Snow," explaining that “We attempted bold and beautiful visuals by utilizing the ambiguous boundary between fantasy and reality in the story.”
He also reassured the audience that the film is not difficult or unrealistic, as they added a simple plot and engaging settings to make it relatable. “We added a simple story and interesting settings so that the audience could empathize,” he said.
