KonoSuba Season 3 release date, cast and what to expect

KonoSuba is a popular Japanese manga that was adapted into an anime TV show. The show went on a break after its second season, which aired in 2017. Fans have been eagerly waiting for news of a third season, and in May 2022, the production company Kadokawa confirmed that they were working on it.

Although there is no official release date yet, it is speculated that the third season of KonoSuba will be released in 2023. The new season will be directed by Yujiro Abe and Takaomi Kanasaki, who worked on the previous seasons. The main cast members will also be returning, along with Rie Takahashi and Aki Toyosaki, who will be reprising their roles in a spin-off show called KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!

During the KonoSuba Channel New Information Reveal Quest Special live stream in May 2022, it was also announced that the spin-off show will premiere in 2023. The show is currently in production and will feature two of the main characters, Megumin and Yunyun.

The KonoSuba franchise has many books and comics, with a total of 17 light novels and 15 manga volumes published in Japan. This means that there is enough material for more seasons or spin-offs in the future. Fans of the series are excited to see what the future holds for the characters and their adventures in the magical world.

KonoSuba is an isekai anime series about a boy named Kazuma Satō who dies from a heart attack after saving a girl's life. He meets a goddess named Aqua who offers to bring him back to life in a parallel world with elements of a video game. Kazuma accepts and finds himself transported to a world that looks like a video game, where he goes on adventures, fights monsters, and gains experience points.

Crunchyroll describes the series as:

“After a traffic accident, Kazuma Sato's disappointingly brief life was supposed to be over, but he wakes up to see a beautiful girl before him. She claims to be a goddess, Aqua and asks if he would like to go to another world and bring only one thing with him. Kazuma decides to bring the goddess herself, and they are transported to a fantasy world filled with adventure, ruled by a demon king. Now Kazuma only wants to live in peace, but Aqua wants to solve many of this world's problems, and the demon king will only turn a blind eye for so long...”

In the storyline of KonoSuba Season 3, Kazuma has already defeated the devil king and is now living a comfortable life with his reward money. However, his luxurious lifestyle catches the attention of the Crown, and Princess Irish approaches him for help in capturing the Chivalrous Thief Chris, who has stolen from the empire. Unfortunately, the mission goes awry, and Kazuma is left exiled and separated from his friends. To clear his name, he must uncover a wide-ranging conspiracy that involves the royal family. Meanwhile, the upcoming season may also focus on the developing relationship between the characters, which was a central part of the 2019 movie.

The main characters from the previous seasons of KonoSuba are expected to return for Season 3. These characters and their voice actors include Kazuma Satou (Jun Fukushima), Aqua (Sora Amamiya), Megumin (Rie Takahashi), and Darkness (Ai Kayano).
