After the massive success of Frozen 2, fans have been eagerly awaiting news about a possible third installment of the franchise. Disney has now confirmed that Frozen 3 is indeed in development, more than three years after the release of the second film.
The original Frozen movie, released in 2013, was an instant hit for Disney. However, it took six years for the sequel, Frozen II, to come out. Both films were directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, and written by Lee. The success of the second movie can be attributed in part to the consistency of the creative team.
In Frozen II, Elsa finally realizes her full potential as the fifth spirit, while her sister Anna becomes the Queen of Arendelle. The film also explores the relationship between the Arendelle protagonists and the Northuldra tribe. Fans are eager to see how Anna will handle her new role as queen, and what kind of leader she will be. When Frozen 3 is released, it is likely to feature all the beloved characters from the previous movies, and may even introduce new characters such as Anna or Elsa's children.
It is not yet known what the story of Frozen III will be, but it is expected to continue from where Frozen II left off. The second film was unique in that it did not have a traditional villain, but rather focused on the journey to uncover the secrets of Arendelle's past. However, Prince Hans, the villain from the first movie, was repeatedly referenced throughout Frozen II, leading some fans to speculate that he may return in the third film.
With Anna now ruling as Queen of Arendelle and Elsa looking after the Enchanted Forest, there is potential for a new villain to disrupt the peaceful relationship between the respective lands. Prince Hans is devious enough that he could find a way to return and cause trouble for the sisters. Frozen 3 could also jump forward in time and follow either Anna or Elsa's children.
Jennifer Lee, the Chief Creative Officer of Disney, has hinted at the development of Frozen 3 and promised that it will have a great plot and plenty of humor. Josh Gad, who voices Olaf in the franchise, has confirmed that he will be reprising his role in the third film, and it is expected that Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, and Jonathan Groff will also be returning to voice their respective characters.
Although there is no official release date for Frozen 3 yet, fans are excited to see what the future holds for this beloved franchise. Stay tuned to Devdiscourse for the latest updates on animated movies.
