The anime adaptation of the popular manga series, "Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun," has just concluded its third season, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the release of Season 4. Although the renewal of the anime series has not yet been officially announced, there are many indications that it will return for another magical adventure.
The series still has a significant amount of source material from the original manga left to adapt, which is often the most significant factor in a series' renewal. The final episode of Season 3 covered roughly up until volume 17 chapter 146 of the original manga, which concluded the Post-Harvest Festival Arc. The next story arc, known as the "Soi Purson Arc," will be featured in the upcoming season, where Iruma and his classmates attempt to succeed in getting their 13th classmate to participate in the Music Festival. A fandom page has revealed the following preview:
“With the Music Festival coming up as another opportunity to increase the Abnormal Class’ ranking, they carefully decide who to stand out for the show! However, little did they know there was a 13th student in the class that also needed to stand out. But, due to his nature, he could not! Will they succeed in getting their classmate to participate… or dissipate?”
The manga has been a hit with readers and currently has 31 complete Tankobon volumes published in Japan, which suggests that there could be up to six anime seasons of Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun.
Although the post-credit scene in Iruma-kun Season 3 Episode 21 did not confirm that Season 4 was on the way, it hinted that the adventure would continue. The popularity of the series among both domestic and international audiences should be enough to merit the renewal by Bandai Namco Pictures and NHK. Season 3 has a respectable rating of 7.88/10 on MyAnimeList, 78% on Anilist, and 4.1/5 on Anime-Planet, with an overall series rating of 7.7/10 on IMDB.
The first season of the anime was announced in February 2019 and debuted in October of the same year, while Season 2 was announced in August 2020 and released in April 2021. Finally, Season 3 was publicly revealed in September 2021 and released in October 2022. If the anime follows its current production cycle and pacing of chapter adaptations, fans should expect Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun Season 4 to premiere in April 2024 on the Spring slate.
For those who want to catch up on the original Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun manga before the anime eventually returns for Season 4, the first five volumes have been released and are available for purchase. The manga, written and illustrated by Osamu Nishi, began serialization in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shonen Champion magazine in March 2017.
The story follows Iruma Suzuki, a 14-year-old boy who is sold to a demon named Sullivan by his parents. Sullivan adopts Iruma and enrolls him in the prestigious demon school, Babyls. The catch is that Iruma must keep his human identity a secret or face dire consequences.
Throughout the series, Iruma navigates his way through demon school and makes new friends, including a mischievous but loyal demon named Clara and a powerful demon prince named Asmodeus. He also faces challenges, such as taking on dangerous missions and participating in a fierce school competition known as the Babel Tournament.
The Iruma-kun manga has received praise for its unique take on the demon school genre and its lovable cast of characters. The anime adaptation, which premiered in 2019, has also been well-received and has garnered a devoted fanbase.
