Despite completing production for its fourth season, Snowpiercer, the post-apocalyptic dystopian thriller series that had a successful run for three seasons, has been canceled by TNT. The decision not to air the final installment was confirmed by a network spokesperson in a statement, citing it as a difficult but necessary choice.

“We can confirm that TNT will not air season four of ‘Snowpiercer,'” a network spokesperson said in a statement.

However, the network remains appreciative of the talented writers, actors, and crew who brought the show's exceptional world to life.

“This was a difficult decision, but our admiration for the talented writers, actors, and crew who brought ‘Snowpiercer’s’ extraordinary post-apocalyptic world to life remains strong. We have been working collaboratively with the producers since last year to help the series find a new home where fans can continue to enjoy the compelling story and exceptional visual experience. We look forward to working with them on future projects,” said the spokesperson.

Despite the disappointment of Snowpiercer being canceled, producer Tomorrow Studios has expressed hope in finding a new partner for the series soon, to deliver the final episodes to fans. The production company is now planning to pitch the show to multiple outlets. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the fourth season of Snowpiercer to provide closure, especially considering the cliffhanger ending of season three. So, the question remains whether Snowpiercer Season 4 will find a new home.

According to a report by Deadline, the cancellation of Snowpiercer is just the latest instance in Warner Bros Discovery's ongoing efforts to write off taxes by abandoning finished projects instead of releasing them. Since the Discovery-WarnerMedia merger last year, the company has been making tough financial decisions, including withdrawing TBS' Chad just hours before its second season premiere and canceling the Batgirl movie that was already completed for HBO Max.

However, there is still hope for Snowpiercer fans. Tomorrow Studios, the show's producer, is determined to see the story through to completion and is actively seeking new streaming platforms to air the final season. They also plan to turn Snowpiercer into a franchise, with potential prequel and sequel series in the works.

"We love Snowpiercer and believe season four completes a story with incredible talent that will entertain viewers while exploring issues of climate change and class warfare," said Tomorrow Studios' CEO & partner Marty Adelstein and president & partner Becky Clements.

"We are so passionate about this series that we have acquired the rights to control the franchise. We hope to find the perfect partner shortly and finish a great ride with the final season."

Reviving canceled series is not unprecedented, as demonstrated by shows like The Big D and Chad, which found new homes on Roku and Peacock, respectively, after being canceled despite having completed seasons. Therefore, even though Snowpiercer was canceled by TNT, season four may eventually be picked up by another platform.

We'll be sure to report any updates on this matter. For UK viewers, Snowpiercer seasons one to three are currently available on Netflix.
