Netflix is gearing up for the upcoming and final season of the martial art drama, Cobra Kai. The show's creators, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, have guaranteed that this will be the most significant season yet. In January, an open letter from the trio announced that Netflix had officially renewed the show for its sixth and final season, Cobra Kai Season 6.
"Our day one goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our own terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we've always imagined. So it is with immense pride and thankfulness that we can announce that achievement. The upcoming season six of Cobra Kai will mark the conclusion of the series," the trio wrote.
"While this may be a bittersweet day for the fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger," the letter continues. "This fandom is the best on the planet and we hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line. Because as we all know, Cobra Kai Never Dies."
According to Jon Hurwitz, the previous two seasons of Cobra Kai were filmed consecutively, but Cobra Kai Season 6 is yet to begin filming. While there may be character or story moments from the fifth season that could potentially be included in future seasons, nothing has been specifically filmed for Cobra Kai Season 6. As for when the final season will premiere, it's difficult to predict, but based on past seasons, we can expect it to the air around 11-12 months after filming begins. Therefore, a 2024 release date for Cobra Kai Season 6 seems plausible.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming sixth and final season of the Netflix series, Cobra Kai Season 6, as the showrunners have promised an outstanding finale. Peyton List, who plays Tory Nichols, hinted at a new dynamic between Tory and Samantha LaRusso in Cobra Kai Season 6, following their brief alliance in season 5.
"I have no idea where it's going for the next season of Cobra Kai Season 6, but it's definitely gonna be different. I mean, Sam and Tory haven't been in a room and not fought in so long, especially fighting together so I'm really curious [to see] where they're gonna take the storyline," List said.
In the past seasons of Cobra Kai, Tory and Sam have had a tumultuous relationship characterized by heated and physical confrontations. However, in Cobra Kai Season 5, they temporarily put their differences aside and worked together towards a common goal. Despite lingering tension between them, Tory ultimately aided Sam and the Miyagi-Fangs by gathering enough evidence to show that Terry Silver bribed an official at the All-Valley tournament and framed John Kreese for the beating of Stingray.
Given their recent collaboration in Cobra Kai Season 5, Tory and Sam may develop a more empathetic understanding of each other in Cobra Kai Season 6. However, it may be unrealistic to expect them to become close friends in the final season of Cobra Kai Season 6. Similar to how it took Miguel and Robby some time to put their differences aside, Tory and Sam's history may be difficult to fully overcome. Nonetheless, Cobra Kai Season 6 may see them form a strong bond and overcome their past issues.
In addition to exploring the relationship between Tory and Sam, Cobra Kai Season 6 will also delve into other unresolved storylines. For example, Season 5 ended with Cobra Kai and the Miyagi-Fangs receiving an invitation to the Sekai Taikai, an international karate event. Meanwhile, villain John Kreese managed to escape from prison, leaving viewers to wonder how his reappearance will factor into the upcoming season.
We will let you know everything as soon as we get anything new on the Netflix series. All the previous seasons of Cobra Kai are available now on Netflix!
