With the approval of the makers, Joker 2, also known as "Joker: Folie a Deux," has been generating a lot of buzz lately, as "new information about the highly-anticipated sequel is emerging almost daily. Director Todd Phillips and actor Joaquin Phoenix will reprise their roles, and the film is set to be a musical crime thriller. Additionally, Lady Gaga is set to join the cast as Harley Quinn, the Joker's accomplice.

To celebrate Valentine's Day, director Todd Phillips recently shared a new still from the highly-anticipated comic book movie, Joker: Folie a Deux. The photo features Joaquin Phoenix as the titular Joker alongside Lady Gaga's first look as the character Harley Quinn. Phillips took to Instagram to share the image and wished his followers a happy Valentine's Day in the caption. The post generated a lot of excitement, with fans expressing their anticipation and emotions in the comments section. Some commented that they were hyperventilating and needed an inhaler, while others said their hearts were about to drop. The image has created a lot of buzz and excitement for the upcoming film.

Lady Gaga also shared the same image on her social media accounts. This marks the singer's first foray into the world of comic book movies, and fans are eagerly anticipating her take on the iconic character. Harley Quinn has previously been portrayed in live-action by Margot Robbie in Birds of Prey and Suicide Squad, but Lady Gaga is expected to bring her unique style and interpretation to the role.

Rumors are circulating about potential changes to Harley Quinn's origin story in Joker 2. According to insider KC Walsh via The Direct, it is being speculated that Lady Gaga's version of Harley will be a patient at Arkham Asylum, similar to Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur, as opposed to being the Joker's psychiatrist like in the comics. The rumor was shared by the insider on Twitter and suggested that Harley will be a peer of the Joker rather than his doctor. In the comic books, Harley Quinn starts as the Joker's psychiatrist before he drives her to madness.

Though the synopsis for Joker 2 is kept under wrap however, according to sources, Lady Gaga will be seen as a psychiatrist who falls in love with Arthur. They will be joined by the new cast including Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Harry Lawtey and Jacob Lofland.

It seems that the sequel will be much more ambitious than originally anticipated, with director Todd Phillips and his team taking a unique approach to make it a movie musical. Although an official synopsis has yet to be released, the film is said to begin with Harley Quinn (Dr. Harleen Quinzel), as a top psychologist at Arkham Asylum determined to help patients that her colleagues have given up on. The story of 'Joker: Folie à Deux' revolves around a rare psychiatric syndrome known as shared delusional disorder (SDD), also called "Madness for Two," in which symptoms of a delusional belief and sometimes hallucinations are transmitted from one individual to another.

The filming for 'Joker: Folie a Deux' started in December 2022, confirms Todd Phillips on his official Instagram by posting a picture of Joaquin Phoenix.
