The highly-anticipated fifth installment of the Toy Story franchise is coming, and fans couldn't be more excited to hear that Tim Allen will once again be lending his voice to the beloved character of Buzz Lightyear. Allen has been the voice of Buzz since the 1995 debut of the series, but his absence in last year's Lightyear movie, which starred Chris Evans as the titular character, left fans feeling disappointed. However, Allen's return has been met with joy, with actress Patricia Heaton expressing on Twitter that Tim IS Buzz.
See ya soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity. And off we go to a number 5! To infinity and beyond! pic.twitter.com/bwRzE487Vi

The plot for Toy Story 5 presents a unique challenge for filmmakers. The previous movies in the series followed the same group of characters, but the ending of Toy Story 4 means that the new film will have to change its focus. Although the toys from Andy and Bonnie's room were all together in the previous film, by the end of Toy Story 4, the two main characters are in separate locations, making it difficult to reunite Woody and Buzz without hurting the previous film's ending. As a result, Toy Story 5 may have to introduce a new set of main characters, which would represent a significant change for the franchise.
The announcement of Toy Story 5 on February 8, 2023, has sparked excitement among fans, but details about the film's production are still scarce. Bob Iger did not reveal exactly how far along the movie is in production, but it is likely still in its early stages. This means that fans may have to wait a while before getting a glimpse of the latest chapter in the beloved franchise.
With Tim Allen confirmed to return as the voice of Buzz Lightyear, fans can expect to see many of the other iconic characters from the Toy Story franchise. This includes Jessie, Bullseye, Rex (voiced by Wallace Shawn), Hamm (John Ratzenberger), Slinky Dog (Blake Clark), Mr. Pricklepants (Timothy Dalton), Trixie (Kristen Schaal), Buttercup (Jeff Garlin), Dolly (Bonnie Hunt), and Forky (Tony Hale). These beloved toys have been a staple of the franchise since its inception, and their return will bring a sense of familiarity to the highly-anticipated Toy Story 5.
