With two captivating seasons already in the books, Russian Doll fans are eagerly awaiting news about whether or not Russian Doll Season 3 will receive a green light. While that information is still up in the air, we can take comfort knowing that back in 2019, the co-creator and series star Natasha Lyonne revealed that there was always an ambitious three-season plan laid out.
"I know there has to be space left open for something beyond my limited imagination at this moment to know if that is still where the series begins, middles, and ends," series star and co-creator Natasha Lyonne told THR back in 2019. "Maybe it's only two seasons. Maybe it's four seasons. Right now, it feels quite clearly that it is those three."
Speaking to Radio Times, Lyonne's co-creator Leslye Headland told, "We initially pitched it as three seasons. We came in with it as like, 'Here's the idea for season one, here's the idea for season two, here's the idea for season three'. So, I could definitely see us going back to one of those ideas."
But it seems Natasha Lyonne is busy with her new project Poker Face. Natasha Lyonne's remarkable performance as Nadia in Netflix comedy-drama series Russian Doll has won her a starring role in director Rian Johnson's Poker Face. Peacock announced the series in March 2021, with Lyonne attached and Johnson as director. Poker Face is an American television series created by Rian Johnson for the streaming service Peacock. It stars Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cale, a casino worker on the run who entangles herself in several mysterious deaths of strangers along the way. Poker Face consists of 10 episodes and debuted on January 26, 2023.
No official announcement for Russian Doll Season 3 on Netflix has been given, but the possibility of a Russian Doll Season is high. Taking to Variety about the potential Season 3 of Russian Doll, Lyonne said, "It feels like there's an idea cooking for Season 3. And it would be really fun if it was one of those shows where, five years later, it's like, 'No, wait a second! I think we've got another idea for a few episodes.' I would love to see that for 'Russian Doll.' 'Oh, wait, I think we've got an idea of our original movie now. It's been 20 years later.' I don't think I'll ever be done with this show. It depends a lot about appetite and reception."
Season 1 of Russian Doll premiered in February 2019, with Season 2 following in April 2022. Observing a gap of three years, we can expect Season 3 in the first quarter of 2025. Stay tuned to Devdiscourse to get the latest updates on the Netflix series.
