Willow Season 2 seems possible! Find out how renewal was hinted several times

The fantasy adventure TV series, Willow premiered on November 30, 2022, on the streaming service Disney+. The makers have not yet revealed their plan for Willow Season 2, but according to the cliffhangers of the story, viewers strongly believe, the series must go on. Here is every update we know about Willow Season 2.

Willow is based on and serves as a sequel to the 1988 film of the same name by George Lucas. The Willow series picked up 17 years after Queen Bavmorda was defeated. A group of six heroes sets off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their homes where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world from the Gales.

The series stars Warwick Davis (as Willow Ufgood), back to his character from the film. The Willow mastermind George Lucas collaborated with the series' creator Jonathan Kasdan about rebooting the film as a television series at Disney+. Howard thanks Lucas for teaching him to wheel the film into a series.

Howards said to THR, “We wound up around George’s [Lucas] dinner table, telling [Joseph Campbell] the entire story of Willow, and so he told us the origins of the myths that we were borrowing from.”

Lucas always believes that the series must be extended. Though the first season’s plotline of Willow is now in the book, however, Howards is waiting to get the greenlit for Willow Season 2 as he planned it for three season series.

“Well, there’s always been a hope and a plan for more seasons. There’s certainly more story to tell, but there’s nothing concrete that I can comment on right now,” Howard says. “From a creative standpoint, everybody is energized. Everybody loved working on Willow. It felt like it found its voice and its footing, so we’re just standing by,” said the creator.

Plus the series developer Jonathan Kasdan said to Radio Times “One hundred percent. The intention was that there's always a place for [Kilmer] in this world,” while he was asked about the possibility of Willow Season 2.

"And the moment it's possible, we'd love to get him on the screen back into that character because he is such a huge, huge part of the DNA of what all of us love about the original movie, he brought to it something so fresh to the genre.

"If Warwick was the soul of Willow, Val was the spirit, and that is too great a thing to not want and covet having in your television show. So yeah, I hope that a day comes when Madmartigan is revealed," said Jonathan Kasdan.

Not only that the series star Tony Revolori opted that his character Prince Graydon is yet to be fully explored in Willow, “so if the story continues there's more to tell."

"Jon gave me a couple of tidbits and a couple of secrets at the very, very start, before I even signed on to do the project that informs Graydon's performance and where he is and his personality. And we do see some of those secrets come to light in this series and not all of them have come to light yet.

"We hope so. I would love to do it and I would love to continue the story and Graydon's journey, as well as just see the band of characters continue on. I love this cast so much that I'd be happy to do anything with them."

Willow Season 2 is yet to get an official green light. If it happens, we could expect the series to premiere in mid-2024. We will keep you updated when we get any information on the series.
