Netflix's popular shows, The Witcher Season 3 and the spin-off “The Witcher: Blood Origin” gets their release date. The streamer announced at the event Tudum on Saturday that the spinoff series will debut on December 25, and Season 3 of The Witcher show will follow in the summer of 2023.

The Witcher Season 2 was launched nearly a year ago in December 2021. The Witcher Season 3 will continue the story of Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), Ciri (Freya Allan) and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra). Robbie Amell, Meng’er Zhang, Hugh Skinner and Christelle Elwin join the cast.

According to Variety, Amell will play an elven fighter, Gallatin, who leads an army of guerrilla Scoia’tael fighting on behalf of Nilfgaard. Zhang will portray Milva, a human adopted by the dryads of Brokilon Forest who is a fierce and talented huntress. The younger brother to King Vizimir is Prince Radovid who will be played by Skinner. Fans will see Elwin as a member of The Rats, who are a gang of misfit teenagers who steal from the rich and give to themselves.

Michalina Olszanska, Ryan Hayes, Kate Winter, Martyn Ellis, Harvey Quinn, and Poppy Almond were also cast in undisclosed roles in The Witcher Season 3.

The series is set on a fictional, medieval-inspired landmass known as "the Continent." The Witcher explores the legend of Geralt of Rivia and princess Ciri, who are linked to each other by destiny.

In that book, Yennefer, Ciri, and Geralt reunited and traveled to the Brotherhood's headquarters of Aretuza (season 2 finale). In 'Time of Contempt', a revolution takes place, so the main character of the story may separate again. The Witcher Season 3 will introduce "the Scoia'tael, this army of elves that's fighting on behalf of Nilfgaard."

The Witcher Season 3 will be adapted from the second proper novel in The Witcher Saga, titled 'Time of Contempt.' Lauren Hissrich recognized that the second season was very different from the books, with some new plotlines and character upgrades added to the Netflix drama. He also stated on Twitter that Season 3 would adapt the source material much more closely.

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is working as the showrunner. He is also one of the executive producers, along with Tomek Baginski, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniel, Mike Ostrowski, Steve Gaub and JaroslawSawko in The Witcher Season 3.

The Witcher: Blood Origin created by Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich adapted from The Witcher book series by Andrzej Sapkowski. The spinoff series will consist of four episodes. Set 1200 years before the events of the television series The Witcher, Blood Origin will depict the creation of the first Witcher, as well as the events leading to the "Conjunction of the Spheres”. It will also explore the ancient Elven civilization before its demise.

The Witcher: Blood Origin stars Laurence O'Fuarain (as Fjall), Michelle Yeoh (as Scian), Sophia Brown (as Éile), Lenny Henry (as Balor), Mirren Mack (as Merwyn), Nathaniel Curtis, Dylan Moran (as Uthrok One-Nut), Jacob Collins-Levy (as Eredin), Lizzie Annis (as Zacaré), Huw Novelli (as Callan), Francesca Mills (Meldorf), Amy Murray (as Fenrik ), Aidan O’Callaghan (as Kareg) and Zach Wyatt (as Syndril).
