0Thanks to the global OTT platforms, viewers around the world are getting easy access to the diversity of content from different cultures. Among allurkish series, Ethos (Turkish: Bir Başkadır) won millions of hearts.

After an impressive debut of the Turkish drama Ethos in 2020, fans are clamoring for one more season. The series reached many homes worldwide via Netflix and received mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences. But it has been a long time since the streamer has been silent on Ethos Season 2.

The story of the series highlights the diversity of Turkish society. Netflix describes Ethos as “A group of individuals in Istanbul transcend sociocultural boundaries and find connection as their fears and wishes intertwine.”

Ethos tells the story of Meryem, a part-time cleaner from a conservative family who lives on the outskirts of Istanbul. She experiences fainting spells and consults Peri, a psychiatrist whose background is dramatically different from Meryem's: she is educated, wealthy, and secular, and holds prejudicial views of openly religious people.

Peri herself sees a therapist, to whom she complains about the growing conservatism in Turkish society. The series presents a variety of characters, including a rich but depressed playboy, a middle-class Kurdish family, a soap opera actress, a rape survivor, an ex-soldier, an intellectual, and a hodja and his closeted gay daughter, all of whom are somehow connected through Meryem, and together showcase the diversity of Turkish society.

Many fans are still waiting for Ethos Season 2. Though we all know Netflix waits long to gather the viewership data from across the world but in the case of this drama, Season 2 is uncertain. The story has given a perfect ending to the Turkish series. According to several media reports, Netflix does not seem interested in giving the show another order.

Ethos is directed by Berkun Oya and starring Öykü Karayel (as Meryem), Fatih Artman (Yasin), Funda Eryiğit (Ruhiye), Defne Kayalar (Peri), SettarTanrıöğen (Ali SadiHoca), Tülin Özen (Gülbin), Gökhan Yıkılkan (Hilmi), Alican Yücesoy (Sinan), Bige and Önal (Hayrünnisa). TRT World praised the drama for bringing many characters and perspectives together. Ethos premiered on Netflix on 12 November 2020.
