Although James Cameron’s idea of re-releasing Avatar before the premiere of Avatar 2 is not new, still fans are giving beautiful response across the planet. The Titanic director, James Cameron has decided to make the audience familiar with the original movie Avatar (that was released in 2009) before they are mesmerized with long-awaited Avatar 2.
A viewer who attended the re-release of Avatar in France said, “We are treated to a breathtaking scene [of] the marine life of Pandora.” Another moviegoer tweeted after giving a surprise visit, “The post credit scene was gorgeous.”
One more fan, who visited the theatre to watch Avatar, wrote on social media, I didn't expect to see a preview of the second film in a post-credits scene, it was grandiose and it promises.” One more viewer wrote, “Just saw the re-release of Avatar and I'm glad I stayed [because] I saw some scenes from Avatar: The Way of Water and it was soooo goood. I can't wait for December!”
According to the figures released by Avatar 2 creators, Avatar has earned $30 million globally in the first three days of its re-release. The movie has earned $10 million in the North American market in the last weekend in addition to $20 million overseas. The decade-old movie has bagged INR 2.2 crore on its opening day and more than INR 5.6 crore by the end of Sunday. “The film could have a nice little run as it saw more tickets sold at cinemas with normal rates than the other new films,” a report claimed.
Although the sci-fi movie enthusiasts know Avatar 2 will be released in December this year, still they are quite interested to know the production-status related to Avatar 3, and other movies of the Avatar franchise. “(Avatar) 3 is still a bit shadowy. It's way too long. I haven't really turned my energy into a disciplined cutting process on that yet. But I know I've got the performances. That's the important thing. I've done all the capture. I've done most of the live-action shooting. I still owe a little bit on some of the adult characters. We were more concerned with the kids aging out,” James Cameron said some time back.
Avatar 2 is slated to hit the big screens on December 16, 2022. Stay tuned to Devdiscourse to get the latest updates on Hollywood sci-fi movies.
