The French mystery thriller show Lupin became massive successful after the release of its first two parts on Netflix. Lupin Season 1 was released in January 2021, with a total of five episodes. After a few months gap, the second part, consisting of another five episodes, was aired on Netflix in June 2021. In April, Netflix revealed that Lupin was the most-watched title on the company's streaming service in the first quarter of 2021.

The second season seemingly covered the main story but there’s still a lot of the story that needs to be told. Thankfully, Lupin Season 3 is already in the works. Now enthusiasts are speculating what the Lupin Part 3 could have in store.

Lupin was watched by 70 million households during the first month of its release in January 2021, which made it the most-watched non-English series on Netflix.

Lupin is loosely based on Maurice Leblanc's ArséneLupin Gentleman-Thief novels. The story follows professional thief Assane Diop (played by Omar Sy), the only son of an immigrant who hanged himself to death after being wrongfully convinced of theft by his wealthy and powerful employer Hubert Pellegrini. Fast forward 25 years and Assane is all set to get revenge on the Pellegrini family, using his charisma and mastery of thievery, subterfuge, and disguise to expose Hubert's crimes.

Lupin Season 2 ended with Belkacem (portrayed by ShirineBoutella) receiving new evidence, which suggests that Assane was not Léonard's murderer. Youssef tells her and Laugier about Dumont's corruption, and the three resolves to arrest him at the Pellegrinis' concert at the Théâtre du Châtelet that evening.

Philippe (Stefan Crepon), actually an accomplice of Assane and Benjamin (Antoine Gouy), brings several cases of computer equipment into the theater, one of which contains Assane. When the music starts, Assane sneaks into Hubert's private box, holding him at knifepoint and forcing him to confess to framing Babakar (FargassAssandé) for the necklace theft and having both him and Fabienne (Anne Benoît) murdered, being responsible for Raoul's (Etan Simon) kidnapping, and framing Assane for Leonard's (AdamaNiane) death.

Omar Sy said they are already in the works for Lupin Part 3. AssaneDiop is a modern-day gentleman thief who styles himself after ArsèneLupin and promises to avenge his father's death. He said to EW, "We're talking about that right now. We have a lot of ideas and things that we want to do and say, but we're still in the writing process."

Omar Sy told Deadline about the future of Lupin. He said, "We'll see what Netflix wants to do with this franchise. The first bet that we won was to bring this character to life and to create a franchise. The franchise exists and now it's up to Netflix to see what they want to do with it. We'll see what they propose, but this is a character that is super enjoyable and who I would take great pleasure in revisiting tomorrow if I can."

Currently, there is no confirmed release date for Lupin Season 3, however, the series co-creator George Kay talked to Radio Times before the renewal of the Lupin Part 3. He told they are expecting the new season to be launch in 2022.
