The much-awaited Season 3 of the Northern Irish comedy series, Derry Girls would take place at the end of 2021. Derry Girls Season 3 was postponed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the recent interview, with the podcast Talking Derry Girls, Tara Lynne O'Neill who plays Mary Quinn has confirmed the third season is already in the pre-production stage. She shared her recent timetable and revealed that she will attend the shooting for Derry Girls after the end of Rough Girls on Saturday, September 25, 2021, reported Irish Mirror.

“I have four days after we finish here to go into Derry Girls, but I cannot wait," said Tara Lynne O'Neill.

“It's like two and a half years ago that we filmed season two. I've seen some people, but just to get back in and this will be the first time that I ever get to do the read-through because the first season I wasn't cast when they did the read-through, I was only cast the week before.”

"And then on the second season, I had vertigo and couldn't fly. So I actually get to play Ma Mary in the read through. I've already said to Lisa, 'please let me know if I kick the bucket in episode two, that's all I need to know to know.' So we're filming right through to Christmas," she said.

Moreover, Siobhán McSweeney (Sister Michael) said in an interview in August 2021 that the filming for Derry Girls Season 3 would take place at the end of this year, noted Gizmo Story.

Besides, while talking to Digital Spy about returning to the series, Louisa Harland (Orla McCool) said that filming for Netflix’s Derry Girls Season 3 would be wrapped "as soon as possible."

She said, "I'm not filming Derry Girls at the moment, I'm about to be at some point, so hopefully we can get that done and out as soon as possible."

Therefore, fans can get a hint or predict the release date of the sitcom. Channel 4's sitcom Derry Girls Season 2 performed very well and was applauded by the international audience after it was picked by Netflix.
