The vice president of India M. Venkaiah Naidu Compliments to the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-Madras) for topping in National Institution Ranking Framework (NIRF) for 2019 of HRD ministry. Naidu also extends his congratulation to IISc Banglore and other institutes which are among top 10 lists.
In his message on Twitter Naidu writes, "Improving quality, accessibility and equity in Higher education is need of the hour and I hope NIRF rankings will kindle the spirit to excel in higher education institutions"

Earlier, fourth edition of the Indian rankings based on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2019 was announced by President Ram Nath Kovind in which IIT Madras topped the HRD Ministry's national ranking of higher education institutes while Bangalore's Indian Institute of Science(IISc) and Delhi's Miranda House were adjudged best university and college respectively..
The ranking framework instituted in 2016 evaluates institutions on five broad generic groups of parameters, including Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) and Perception (PR).
