The Maharashtra government-run Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University in Nanded has imposed collective fines of Rs 12 lakh on two pharmacy colleges over paper leak, officials said on Saturday. The action comes after a question paper of a B.Pharmacy paper allegedly surfaced on social media platforms before the examination this year. The incident had prompted Vice-Chancellor Manohar Chaskar to order a high-level probe, which highlighted lapses on the part of two affiliated colleges. While Latur College of Pharmacy has been slapped with a Rs 10 lakh fine, Kandhar College of Pharmacy from Nanded district has been told to pay Rs 2 lakh, officials said. Both institutes have also been issued show-cause notices, they said. Director of the Examination and Evaluation Board Husharsing Sable said the university's strict stance would help prevent such incidents in future and strengthen discipline and transparency in the examination process.
