The University of Liverpool and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have announced the creation of a joint seed fund. This initiative is designed to foster research and innovation partnerships tackling global challenges.
The fund will support collaborations in key areas such as AI applications, biomedical sciences, One Health, infectious diseases, quantum technology, and space research. Both institutions are committed to significant annual co-investments over an initial three-year period, aiming to strengthen research ties.
This new fund marks a progressive step since the 2023 Memorandum of Understanding aimed at enhancing academic partnerships. Notably, it will also focus on training early-career researchers through robust PhD programs, capitalizing on the strengths of both the UK and Indian educational frameworks.
