In a significant educational initiative, over 25,976 candidates took part in a literacy and numeracy assessment test in Thane district, Maharashtra. This initiative, featuring over 20,000 women participants, was conducted under the Ullas Navbharat Saksharata Karykram, according to officials.
Held on March 23, the exam focused on cultivating basic literacy skills for people aged 15 and above. Alongside traditional reading and writing, participants were assessed on financial, legal, digital literacy, disaster management, and healthcare awareness. This aligns with broader goals of enhancing local employment and skill development.
The diversity of the initiative was evident as assessments were offered in eight languages, including Marathi, Hindi, and English. A notable highlight was the participation of a 72-year-old learner from Ambernath, exhibiting the timeless thirst for knowledge.
