The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has called for immediate action after a Class 9 student in Navi Mumbai allegedly took his own life amid claims of bullying. The tragedy has raised serious concerns about student safety in educational institutions.
The incident occurred on February 7, when the young student jumped off a school building in the Seawoods area, leading the police to initially register a case of accidental death. However, fresh allegations from the boy's father have prompted the NCPCR to demand a thorough investigation.
The commission has urged the Thane district collector to register a first information report (FIR) and provide a copy, along with the post-mortem report and other crucial documents, within ten days. The boy's father claims not only that his son was bullied but also that he was denied access to critical CCTV footage from the school.
