In Kolkata, the students of Presidency University have concluded their 120-hour sit-in after the administration committed to meeting several key demands. These include organizing student union elections and revitalizing the university's placement cell.

The demonstration, which involved around 50 students, some aligned with the CPI(M)'s student wing SFI, ended on Monday night following constructive discussions with university officials. The talks involved the acting vice chancellor, registrar, and deans of the institution.

According to Bitan Islam, spokesperson for the Student Federation of India's Presidency University unit, the university also committed to providing internships for every fifth semester student as per NEP 2020 guidelines. The administration, addressing financial difficulties, has launched the 'Giving to Presidency' initiative, seeking support from alumni and exploring CSR funding channels. The university assured its commitment to students while awaiting state government approvals for student elections.
