The Directorate of Education (DoE) of the Delhi government has rolled out new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for admissions under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Group, and Children with Special Needs categories in private schools for the academic session 2025-26.
According to a recent circular, the process has commenced with the annual collection of school data, which has already been uploaded to the DoE's official website. The department will identify available seats and update this information on its portal within a week. A district-level committee will address school representations regarding seat allocations, and the final seat counts will be publicly disclosed before applications are invited.
Admissions will involve a computerised draw, with successful candidates notified via text, email, or phone. Zonal authorities, rather than individual schools, will now manage document verification. Discrepancies in documents must be resolved within 15 days. Any vacant seats will be allocated in additional draws. The income limit for EWS admissions has increased to below Rs 5 lakh annually, with all related directives issued in Hindi and English to ensure clarity and inclusivity.
