In a country-wide assessment, only 57% of schools are equipped with functional computers, and a mere 53% have internet access, according to data from the Union education ministry's UDISE Plus report.
The report highlighted that while schools largely possess basic necessities like electricity and gender-specific toilets, advanced amenities like digital infrastructure are severely lacking.
Enrollment figures also painted a complex picture, with disparities between different educational levels. The Gross Enrolment Ratio is robust at preparatory levels, but concerningly low at foundational stages, reflecting underlying systemic challenges in the Indian education system.
