Ski Patrol Strike Leaves Park City Skiers in Long Lines
Skiers at Park City in Utah are experiencing long lift lines due to a ski patrol strike. Nearly 200 workers demand a higher entry-level wage from Park City Mountain Resort, owned by Vail Resorts. Despite disruptions, the resort remains operational, partly by using workers from other locations.
Skiers visiting Park City's vast slopes in Utah are expressing frustrations online as long lift lines and some trail closures result from an ongoing ski patrol strike.
The strike involves nearly 200 ski patrol and safety workers who are seeking better pay; they demand an increase in the base entry-level wage to $23 per hour, up from the present $21, at Park City Mountain Resort, which is part of Vail Resorts Inc.
Although the resort remains open, fewer patrol members are on duty. Vail Resorts has brought in workers from elsewhere to manage the operations. The strike occurs during the ski season's busiest week, causing significant disruptions.
