Five Indians have been awarded the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship for 2025, joining a global cohort at the University of Oxford in October. Named among these elite scholars are a diverse group representing fields from astrophysics to veterinary science.
The Rhodes Scholarship, established in 1903, is noted as the world's most prestigious graduate fellowship. Since 1947, India's brightest have been participating, bringing diverse perspectives to Oxford. Rhodes Trust CEO Elizabeth Kiss emphasized the scholars' potential contributions to creating a more sustainable future.
This year's Indian scholars include Jawaharlal Nehru University master's student Rayan Chakrabarti, National Law School's Vibha Swaminathan, researcher Avanish Vats, veterinary student Shubham Narwal, and IIT-Bombay's Pal Aggarwal. The selection highlights candidates' intellect, character, and empathy, according to the Rhodes India secretariat.
