The India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER), located in Goa, has officially joined the ranks of the Consortium of National Law Universities. This announcement marks IIULER as the 25th member of this prestigious group, further cementing its position in India's legal education landscape.
IIULER's inclusion means that students aiming for a place at the university will now have to clear the widely-recognized Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Currently, around 75,000 candidates are registered for this crucial examination, a key pathway to renowned law institutions nationwide.
Highlighting this development, Prof V C Vivekanandan, president of the NLU Consortium, emphasized IIULER's new status. Prospective students can soon reflect this choice during the upcoming counseling sessions, set to begin after CLAT 2025 results are disclosed on December 1, 2024. Noteworthy is IIULER's 20 percent reservation for Goan candidates. Initially, the institute admitted students via its own exam, IIULET, for two years since its establishment.
