The Delhi High Court has taken a stand against the aftermath of election campaigns at Delhi University, terming it as 'election excesses'. The court noted that the university's campuses continue to look shabby with posters and graffiti still present.

A bench of Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela has impleaded 16 candidates from the 2024-25 Delhi University Students' Union elections, instructing them to clean and repaint the defaced areas. This directive follows allegations that these candidates were responsible for the defacement.

The court ordered Delhi Police, MCD, and Delhi University to provide fresh status reports and postponed the hearing to October 28. The move has paused the counting of votes, reinforcing the court's commitment to restoring public property.
