Twenty-eight students were hospitalized after a suspected case of food poisoning at a private school in Pimpri Chinchwad, police authorities reported on Thursday.

According to officials, the students, mostly from classes 5 to 7 at D Y Patil School in Shahunagar, began exhibiting symptoms such as headaches, giddiness, and nausea after consuming sandwiches prepared on school premises.

While most affected students were discharged by evening, food samples have been sent for laboratory analysis. School president Abhay Khotkar assured that appropriate measures would be taken against those responsible pending the investigation's outcome.
