Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Thursday emphasized the need for an educational framework that respects cultural heritage while also integrating modern skills. Speaking at the vice-chancellors' conference on the National Education Policy 2020, Kataria stressed the importance of creating harmony between tradition and technology to develop well-rounded individuals.
Commending Punjab's high educational standards, he urged institutions to adopt NEP 2020 guidelines for improved outcomes, which include talent recognition and language inclusivity. Kataria emphasized supporting individual talents and easing the transition from regional-language schools to higher education.
The governor also highlighted the need for rigorous teacher selection as per UGC guidelines and introduced anti-paper leakage measures. He advocated for a greater focus on environmental and sports education to build a healthier future generation, while Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains discussed the state's progress in educational reforms.
