Teacher Arrested for Cruelty Against Toddler in Mattancherry

A female teacher employed at a Mattancherry play school was apprehended on Thursday for allegedly beating a three-and-a-half-year-old boy with a stick, leaving visible marks on his back, according to local police.
The incident, which was exposed when the child exhibited reluctance to attend the school, led to the teacher being charged under section 118 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means, and section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act for cruelty to a child.
Authorities became aware of the situation when the boy detailed the assault, prompting the police at Mattancherry station to register a case and make an arrest.
