The Gujarat High Court recently issued a notice to the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) in response to a student's petition against the cancellation of his admission due to technicalities. The student, who had completed three-fourths of his course, faces a setback due to procedural issues.
The court notice comes after Justice Aniruddha P Mayee called on IIMA and IIT Madras to respond by October 21. The petitioner, R Shri Vignesh, alleges administrative delays at IIT Madras in receiving his BTech and MTech degree certificates, which led to IIMA revoking his admission despite his successful performance in multiple trimesters.
Vignesh, who joined IIMA with a 98.66 percentile in the CAT, has completed significant coursework yet could not meet document deadlines due to external administrative delays. The Gujarat High Court's notice underscores the challenges students face when administrative procedures intersect with academic progression.
