Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein announced the establishment of a Buddhist Study Centre at Rajiv Gandhi University to advance research in Buddhist philosophy.

During the inauguration of the students' activity centre, Mein emphasized that the new centre would prevent students from needing to travel abroad for their studies. Scholars from Mahayana and Hinayana sects often head to locations such as Myanmar, Thailand, and Nalanda University.

Mein applauded the achievements under outgoing Vice-Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha, noting the doubling of academic departments and a substantial campus expansion. Under Kushwaha, the student population surged by 200%, marking significant infrastructure and academic growth.

In addition, Mein praised the efforts of Registrar Dr N. T. Rikam and Finance Officer Prof. Otem Padung for their contributions.

He urged further historical research into Arunachal Pradesh's history to enrich school curriculums, allowing students to connect with their heritage.
