Wordsmiths Shine at Fifth National Collins Spelling Bee Championship

The fifth season of the national Collins Spelling Bee Championship, held on 28 September 2024 at HDFC School, Gurugram, saw fervent competition and outstanding talent. With over 6000 students from 2500 schools participating in the prelims, the event culminated in a thrilling final round.

Johan George Philip, an eighth grader from Believers Church Residential School, Thiruvalla, won the coveted title of Champion by spelling 'Clairvoyant' correctly. His win marked his third attempt at the title. Utkarshini Reddy, from Sri Venkateshwar International School, New Delhi, claimed the first runner-up spot, while Ojas Jain from Manthan International School, Hyderabad, was the second runner-up.

The adjudicator panel, composed of quizmaster Ajay Poonia, Dr. Asher Jesudoss, and Ms. Safa Abdul Razak, praised the participants' dedication and skill. Rageshree Niyogi, Director of Product & Marketing at Collins India, celebrated the achievements, highlighting the participants' hard work and the love for language that the event fosters.
