Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) has been closed indefinitely following student protests against the vice-chancellor. The protests were sparked by allegations that the vice-chancellor violated the privacy of female students by conducting a surprise check of their hostel and criticizing their dress.
The students staged a 'dharna' outside the VC's residence on campus, demanding his resignation. They spent the night in front of his house. Despite talks held on Monday between students and university officials, no resolution was reached and security barricaded the campus.
The university has confirmed that no outsiders are being allowed onto the premises while the protest continues, adding to the tension at the educational institution.
