On Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh underscored the increasing prominence of the private sector in nearly every area of the Indian economy, emphasizing its pivotal role in steering the nation's economic progress.
Speaking at the inauguration of a Sainik School at Shri Bhawani Niketan Public School, Singh noted that these schools are also being set up under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. He stated that this new approach combines the strengths of both sectors, aiming to instil values like discipline, patriotism, and courage in students.
Singh highlighted that previously, Sainik schools were jointly run by the central and state governments but are now being established under the PPP model. He further remarked that the private sector currently holds a significant position in the country's economy, particularly in the manufacturing and service sectors, while more than half of the workforce is still employed in agriculture.
The Defence Minister also mentioned that the Union government approved the establishment of 100 Sainik Schools in partnership with NGOs, private schools, and state governments last year. He believes that the PPP model in education will provide the best education to future generations by leveraging the strengths of both private and public sectors.
