Madhya Pradesh to Distribute Free Bicycles to 4.5 Lakh Government School Students

This year, approximately 4.5 lakh students in government schools across Madhya Pradesh will receive free bicycles under the state's Free Bicycle Supply Scheme. Directed by the school education department, the scheme targets class 6 and 9 students, including those in hostels located two kilometers or more from their schools.

This year, around 4.5 lakh students attending government schools in Madhya Pradesh will receive free bicycles as part of a state initiative, an official confirmed on Monday.

The school education department has issued guidelines to district education officers regarding the distribution process.

As part of the Free Bicycle Supply Scheme, the bicycles will be given to eligible students upon their first admission into classes 6 and 9, the official stated.

In the previous year, 4.07 lakh students benefitted from the scheme. The initiative also aims to support girl students in hostels who need to travel two kilometers or more to reach their government schools.

Education department officials have been advised to ensure the quality of bicycles being procured, the official further noted.
