First Lady Jill Biden and Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin are making a joint visit to Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama to highlight new initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life and early childhood education for military families.

On Friday, at Maxwell, Biden and Austin will tour a pre-kindergarten program that Biden has fervently supported. This program, which provides universal preschool and aid for children aged 3 and 4, is set to expand nationwide beyond military facilities.

Defence Secretary Austin is intended to speak about the Pentagon's efforts to ease financial and career challenges faced by military families. Among his goals are retaining service members and attracting new recruits, with initiatives including better housing, career support for spouses, and pay raises.
