St. Stephen's College took its grievance to the Delhi High Court on Monday, challenging a ruling that mandated the admission of seven students based on seats allocated by Delhi University.

The appeal is slated for a hearing on Tuesday before a bench of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela.

On September 6, a single judge provided relief to the seven students, stating they faced undue hardship due to an ongoing dispute between the college and the university, which left their admission status uncertain and blocked them from exploring other options.

The petitioners, who qualified under the 'single girl child quota,' sought direction to secure admission to courses they were eligible for. Despite support from the university, their admission was contested by the college.

The college argued against DU's stance that it was obliged to admit students who were allocated seats through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), citing capacity limits. The single judge noted that the college had itself prepared and forwarded the seat matrix to DU, indicating its different program allocations.
